ABOUT Chupaca

Chupaca is the capital of the district and province of Chupaca, in the department of Junín. Known as the "Heroic City" due to its valuable participation in Peru's War of Independence, it is located about half an hour west of the city of Huancayo, at the beginning of the Mantaro Valley.

In the city, you can see statues dedicated to the warrior dance of the Shapis, a cultural manifestation that represents the roots and legacy of the indigenous peoples of the Andean region. In the Historic Center, the Plaza de Armas of Chupaca is the heart of the city, a lively place of great cultural significance, featuring buildings with architectural styles characteristic of the area.
