Among the main tourist attractions in Huancayo is the Plaza de la Constitución, a gathering place for locals and a venue for various cultural events. Huancayo’s cuisine is heavily influenced by Wanka culture. Popular dishes include grilled trout, cuy (guinea pig), patachi Huancayo-style, and papa a la huancaína, the star dish that originated in this region but has become popular throughout Peru.

One of the most enjoyable activities in this area is visiting the viewpoint atop Cerrito de la Libertad, an ideal spot for a privileged view of the city and the Mantaro Valley, especially at sunset. Huancayo has two bus terminals. The first is the Gran Terminal Terrestre, located on Av. Evitamiento 2800 in the El Tambo district, 16 minutes from the city center. The second is the Terminal Terrestre Los Andes on Av. Ferrocarril 1320, just 7 minutes from the center. Both terminals serve various bus companies, mainly from Lima, Chincha, and Ayacucho, the closest cities.
